 SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS AND SENIORS INTERESTED IN TEACHING –SUMMER 2017! – Generation Teach partners with DPS to provide diverse high school students and undergraduates with summer teaching experiences to inspire them to become urban teachers. They are eager to recruit DCIS students and alumni for summer 2017.
This is open to DCIS alum too! Rolling admissions so apply ASAP.


 AFS STEM EXCHANGE YEAR IN INDIA OR BRAZIL – If you are interested in science and math and doing an academic year in India or Brazil but you have financial barriers, and are between the ages of 15-17, please take a look! AFS is offering a full ride scholarship for this year exchange. DEADLINE TO APPLY IS MARCH 9!


Digital Exchange with Iraq! A virtual exchange. No passport needed. No cost. Just an opportunity to connect with peers in Iraq! Applications due before MARCH 15, 2017.  Note: Deadline has been extended!

The Digital Young Leaders Exchange Program (DYLEP) is an online exchange program for high school students in Iraq and the United States. Through DYLEP students develop their leadership skills, learn how to work together with people of diverse backgrounds, and design concrete projects to address issues in their communities. The themes covered during the exchange include leadership, digital citizenship, civic engagement, global issues, exchange, diversity, and empathy.



COLLEGE BelushiATTENTION ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS! OUT OF STATE COLLEGE TRAVEL STIPENDS ARE NOW AVAILABLE…. The Counseling Center and the DCIS Travel Center are offering stipends to offset the cost of an airline ticket for Juniors and Seniors! Stipends are for $150* and can only be used by an approved DCIS student visiting an out of state college or university. Stipends will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The process is as simple as 1, 2, 3!
1. Complete the Out-of-State College Travel Stipend Application Part I and return it to the your counselor.
2. If approved, book your flight!
3. Complete the Out of State College Travel Application Part II and submit it to your counselor or the TRAVEL CENTER with a copy of your airfare receipt or boarding pass to be reimbursed before APRIL 14, 2017.
4. Share a “selfie” from your college visit! Send it to your counselor!

Applications are available NOW in the Counseling Center.

*Stipends larger than $150 may be considered. Speak with your counselor.
Funding for Out of State College Travel Stipends are available through a generous grant from the Western Union Foundation.
