One of the best ways to meet other DCIS parents and to stay abreast of what’s going on in the school is by becoming involved in one of our parent groups: the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) or the Collaborative School Committee (CSC).
The PTSA offers a wide variety of short- and long-term opportunities for involvement designed to support the school, students, teachers and families. Sign up for a single event or get involved in something that’s ongoing. You can choose from among many options that match your interests and availability, in areas such as communications, school beautification, cultural enrichment, fundraising, chaperoning, PTSA leadership, helping out in the front office, event planning/staffing, and lots more.
The CSC is composed of parents, students, staff and a community member and is more policy-oriented. Its purpose is to provide strategic direction that supports the school’s mission. It requires a more regular commitment, as committee members are elected to two-year terms. The committee meets once a month throughout the school year and sometimes more frequently when dealing with budgeting or hiring decisions.
