Denver Center for International Studies prepares students for college and career by developing multilingual, interculturally competent citizens who are actively involved in our rapidly changing world. This is our mission, but it’s more than just a statement.
DCIS is more than just a school — it’s an incubator for the global leaders of tomorrow. We create an environment and a curriculum for the development of informed opinions with a global perspective, community-building skills, and personal drive to serve others and take action for change in the world. Our students are multilingual, engaged in their communities and culturally aware.
Established in 1985 as a magnet program at Denver’s West High School, DCIS became a magnet middle and high school in its own building at 574 West 6th Avenue in 2006. The Denver Public Schools’ (DPS) Board of Education confirmed the school’s success by expanding to three other campuses: DCIS at Ford Elementary School, DCIS Fairmont and DCIS at Montbello. The DCIS schools are the only DPS members of the International Studies Schools Network (ISSN), part of the Asia Society.
