My Spark!

Posted August 25, 2023

Every kid in Denver should have the opportunity to pursue their passions and find their purpose through a variety of activities including athletics, arts, and academics regardless of their income level.

My Spark Denver increases access to extracurricular programs for Denver Public School middle school students whose families qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. During the 2023-2024 school year, 4,000 eligible students and their families will receive a $1,000 debit card to enroll in participating programs.

Ensuring all kids have access to enrichment activities, social-emotional learning and tutoring, can help kids manage current stressors and prepare for future ones.

  • Young people who have a variety of opportunities for positive learning and enrichment activities engage in less risky behavior and have higher rates of successful transitions into adulthood
  • Youth who say they have a trusted adult or group of peers they connect with regularly report more feelings of hopefulness about the future.

My Spark Denver is supported by a broad range of individuals, organizations and afterschool services providers.  My Spark Denver is administered through Mile High United Way and Gary Community Ventures with oversight from the Denver Office of Children’s Affairs.
