DCIS is part of Denver Public Schools’ SchoolChoice program and adheres to all deadlines set by the district. SchoolChoice decisions are not made by DCIS, but through the DPS SchoolChoice lottery system. Please visit DPS Choice & Enrollment for the most current information regarding this year’s process and deadlines.

Although DCIS does not require an application, we do have admission priorities like other schools in the district. An automated process fills spots in the order designated below, and a lottery system is activated when requests for admission exceed capacity.

What is SchoolChoice?

SchoolChoice is for any student who wants or needs to attend a new school for the following school year. This particularly impacts transitioning students who are typically incoming kindergarten, sixth- and ninth-grade students who are moving into a new school due to their grade level. All incoming ECE students, as well as incoming students who reside in an enrollment zone, must complete an application.

Middle School Admission Priorities (1 is highest)

  1. Students who are currently attending DCIS Fairmont in 5th grade and have a sibling currently attending DCIS.
  2. District resident students with a sibling currently attending DCIS.
  3. Students who are currently attending DCIS Fairmont in 5th grade.
  4. Children of full-time employees of the school.
  5. District resident students impacted by school closure decisions.
  6. All other district resident students.
  7. Non-district resident students with a sibling currently attending DCIS.
  8. All other non-district resident students.
