DCIS is excited to announce the expansion of our dual language program, offering an immersive and enriching educational experience for our incoming 6th graders. This program is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to develop fluency in two languages while fostering a deep appreciation for different cultures.

Starting in the fall of 2024, DCIS is excited to introduce our dual language program, offering a diverse educational experience for our incoming 6th graders. This program is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to develop fluency in two languages while fostering a deep appreciation for different cultures. Students will need to have previous experience in a dual-language elementary setting or be fluent in Spanish to enroll.

What to Expect:

  • DL students take Spanish Language Arts and at least 1 core content (math, science, social studies) in Spanish each year.
  • DL students are mixed with non-DL students for all other classes.
  • DL students:
    • Attended a dual language elementary
    • Attended a TNLI elementary
    • New to country or newcomers

Students will need to have previous experience in a dual-language elementary setting OR be fluent in Spanish to enroll. Want more information? Attend our final open house on January 18th, from 6-8pm.

Interested?

To kickstart this exciting opportunity, we are inviting a select group of students to participate in a soft roll-out of the dual language program for the fall of 2024. This presents a unique opportunity for you to be at the forefront of this initiative, shaping its growth and impact at DCIS. We are officially launching the Dual Language in 2025, however we will offer a Spanish Language Arts class and a content class, science or social studies, that will be taught in Spanish. This will provide a soft roll-out of a dual-language experience for 6th graders who choose DCIS and would like to be in this section.

We understand that choosing the right educational path is a significant decision for both students and parents. Therefore, we invite you to express your opinions about the dual language program and ask questions through this short RSVP form. You may contact Elise Koehl, DCIS School Communications Specialist at elise_koehl@dpsk12.net for any questions. We are here to support you every step of the way!
